Don't let the suit fool you
Hello,
How about some social commentary today?
I truly believe that part of my purpose is to be a connector.
That’s why I recently launched a bi-weekly newsletter.
I hope to spark new conversations and create more synchronicity in my community, because I believe connection is one of the most important aspects of humanity and sometimes we forget how much we need it.
But I'm going to be honest with you—no filter—I share what’s on my heart.
Sometimes it’s commercial real estate and the wonderful work we’re doing at CityPlat.
Sometimes it’s about wellness and an honest anecdote to encourage others to take care of themselves too.
But sometimes it’s just about me… and why I am always in a suit.
So for those of you that don’t know…
I didn’t come out of my mother’s womb wearing a suit. 😅
In all actuality, I grew up in a rural agriculture town (picture: population count 100) in India, with very modest means.
So you could say my suits are pretty symbolic to my journey.
I think we all create an identity of how we think the external world perceives us.
For me, that meant putting on my armor to face the world, an external aesthetic that deep down embodies my humble beginnings.
We've ALL heard the saying, “dress for the job you want” or “dress like it's the most important day of your life.”
For me, life is precious and I like to make every day count.
But don’t let the suit fool you.
I'm still one to roll up my sleeves and get dirty... with or without the suit on.
Ya-da, da-da, da.
Get to the point, G.
People always comment on my suits. “Hey G, why are you wearing a suit?” or “Where's the suit today, G?”
Long story short…
We shouldn't let someones outfit or appearance define who they are to us. From the janitor to the board chair, we're all humans, and there's always more to us than meets the eye.
Today's lesson: I am you, you are me, we are one.
But in case you’re wondering…
Yes, I am wearing a suit right now.
I would love for you to be a part of this little community we’re building.
It’s about real connection and keeping up with each other a little more intentionally.
If this sounds like something you’d love to in your inbox, please join me here: bit.ly/keeupwithg.
